State of the Nation - India

The current scenario in the Country is really very scary. We have all the scams in the world, the inflation is going out of proportions. Every thing seems to be going out of hand. There is complete anarchy in the Economic Market place of India. Government seems to be helpless in front of rising food prices. Yesterday's fuel price hike will only add more fuel to the fire. I strongly feel that India is heading to the double dip recession and it will be couple of years before the Country truely come to the fast track growth percentage.

Hopefully I only pray that I am wrong on this.

State of the Nation

The way in which the MNIK controversy has blown out is indeed very Sad. I am very proud to be an Indian, citizen of a nation with strong unity in so many diversities. But the way things have been turning up, be it MNIK or struggle for smaller states or corruption, it gives lot of ammnunation for countries who do not want to see India grow. More than anything else, politicians like Thackerey's, Chavanas, Pawars and others are holding the country with Gun to Head. When the Government should be focussing on inclusive development, building infrastructure and other priority things, it has to focus on irrelevant issues. Agreed that the Constitution gurantees freedom of speech, bt it never says that one should act in such way, as to what is happening in Mumbai.

As educated youngesters, it is very important for us to voice our concern and ensure that we do something and force the government to do its part. People must vote to elect government and representatives properly.

Turmoil for Mumbai

The recent spates of incidents in Mumbai are really saddening. The actions of both Congress and Shiv Sena are pathetic. No body seems to be concerned about the ordinary Mumbaikar. If Shiv Sena had any problems with Shahrukh Khan, it should talk with him rather than attacking public property, causing harrasement to common man and creating a nuisance. The State government on its part is not handling the situation with a maturity and is acting like a two year old kid. It is high time that the politicians rid themselves of votebank Politics and concerntrate on what is expected of them. That will do a great good for Mumbai, Maharatra and India as a whole.

Leaders for India

Our Country needs Leaders like Lal Babahdur Shastri and not dumb followers like there are in Congress or BJP. The fundamental right for free speech and thought must be respected by our political parties. the hue and cry raised over Shashi Tharoor's comments is irrelevant. What was relevant in the context of early post independence years is not relevant today. Seen in this light Tharoor's view are very correct.

Emergence of India

We as a nation are at a critical juncture and is a make or break scenario. We have achieved much in this decade. But there are many critical roadblocks for the next level. the biggest challenge is the Political establishment which is not prepared to lead the nation. Even today our class of politicians support corrupt and strong people, are more associated with self benefits. They have no vision for future or plans to fight other critical issues like enviornment, proverty, upliftment etc. We need the educated class to be associated in politics. The step taken by Gujarat to make voting compulsory is a right step. The Educated people need to be involved in democratic processes and institutions. Only when there is a mass involvement of the educated class will there be right people be elected. Last few elections in India have seen a steady decline in the number of people who have actually voted.

As a nation we are lucky that we have democracy surviving in a country where there are so many divergences . People in India have a faith in domocracy and that needs to be understood by the intelligia. They have to be involved in democratic processes.

The other key challenge for the country is in the adoption of technology. We need to have innovation in technology which is cost effective, green and also productive. We cannot have a scenario where there is no water in our river to support the billions. Our Civilization has been built on rivers and global warming is impacting the glaciers. The Industrial growth in India has to be supported by care for enviornment. we need to give back more than what we take from earth. There should be a massive effort in terms of reforestation, reducing carbon footprint and partnering with other countries to innovate for green technologies.

Survival of India

The latest Shot by the Indian Politicians have opened Pandora's Box for the survival of the nation. We do not need fight for states. We need education and growth, prosperity of our people. What Congress Government has done is open up a whole new issue for seperatist movements, a ripe welcome for Dammed Politicians to hide behind for all their inefficiencies. Creating new states does not solve problems. There are lot of issues which the central government can worry about like environment, growth, education, infrastructure and so on. It should have taken some other strategy to kill the agitation of TRS rather than declaring a new state formation. This fire would not douze so easily.

Technology for "BHARAT"

As a nation, we must use Technology. I strongly believe that the National Unique ID project can be leweraged to a far extended purpose than the use it is being till now. The same must be used in all IT returns, all the government dealing, be it at state level or at the Central Levels, all Legals issues, all subsidies and for all investements and subsidies and anywhere there is a Database. It should be used in railway reservation and for opening of bank accounts, taking loans etc. This way, the Authorities can track the movements of individuals, flow of money and then target various welfare to the deserving people. Only people with lessser income and below proverty line should be given benefits of all types of reservations in educational institutes and in government jobs till a specified time frame. The tracking of people movement though the national id would allow the government to plan for civic and economic activities in area, which require developments. It would also help in national security, as the government would know, where the people are moving and also help in a little way in tracking criminals and absconding people. The national identity project should be made multi dimensional and should be used by government also to generate additional revenue by selling certain portion of data to advertisers. This would enable the companies to target coonsumers in a better way and for the government to recover the cost of the project.
