We as a nation are at a critical juncture and is a make or break scenario. We have achieved much in this decade. But there are many critical roadblocks for the next level. the biggest challenge is the Political establishment which is not prepared to lead the nation. Even today our class of politicians support corrupt and strong people, are more associated with self benefits. They have no vision for future or plans to fight other critical issues like enviornment, proverty, upliftment etc. We need the educated class to be associated in politics. The step taken by Gujarat to make voting compulsory is a right step. The Educated people need to be involved in democratic processes and institutions. Only when there is a mass involvement of the educated class will there be right people be elected. Last few elections in India have seen a steady decline in the number of people who have actually voted.
As a nation we are lucky that we have democracy surviving in a country where there are so many divergences . People in India have a faith in domocracy and that needs to be understood by the intelligia. They have to be involved in democratic processes.
The other key challenge for the country is in the adoption of technology. We need to have innovation in technology which is cost effective, green and also productive. We cannot have a scenario where there is no water in our river to support the billions. Our Civilization has been built on rivers and global warming is impacting the glaciers. The Industrial growth in India has to be supported by care for enviornment. we need to give back more than what we take from earth. There should be a massive effort in terms of reforestation, reducing carbon footprint and partnering with other countries to innovate for green technologies.
